What is EDDM, also called Every Door Mail Program? The United State Post Office created a program for businesses called Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM). USPS EDDM Program is designed to reduce postage costs for businesses that wish to reach potential customers in their immediate marketing area.

Businesses register with the Post Office and then use an online mapping tool to identify mail delivery areas and the number of active residents and businesses. Special paperwork is required for Every Door Mail, also generated online, and the mail must be bundled by routes and marked accordingly.

Mail pieces in this program cannot be addressed individually. Since they are delivered to Every Door within a mail route, simplified addressing such as, “Postal Customer”,  is printed on each piece.

EDDM looks simple until you're at the USPS — it's 4:45, you're standing in line, and you're hoping they help you before they close so you don't have to come back tomorrow and do it again.

Common questions

How much does EDDM postage cost?
EDDM saturation postage is about $0.247 per piece — well below standard First-Class rates. Total cost depends on printing, paper, quantity, and design.
How long does an EDDM mailing take?
Typically about 14 business days end-to-end (printing, bundling, USPS drop-off, and delivery). USPS delivery windows vary by route, so timing isn't guaranteed.
What's the minimum quantity?
Around 400 pieces, though the exact minimum depends on the routes you select. We'll tell you the precise count after you've picked your routes.
What postcard sizes are available?
The most common EDDM-qualified sizes we get are 6.5×9, 4.5×12, and 8.5×11. Other qualifying sizes are available on request.
Can I target by age, income, or household type?

Because the USPS defines EDDM as a total-market saturation service, individual demographic targeting is not permitted by postal regulations. However, to help you reach the right audience, we provide median household income data for each carrier route so you can select the neighborhoods that best fit your customer profile.

We offer specific mailing lists to target by demographic data, age, income, household type, and more. Contact us for those list requests.

Do you offer design help?
Yes — send us your artwork or ask about custom design. Canva® integration is coming soon for designers who prefer to work in Canva.
Can you ship the printed mailers to me so I can drop them at USPS myself?
Yes. We can certainly print your EDDM postcards and ship them to you. Our postcards ship bundled in 100s — a USPS requirement — so you don't have to waste your time counting them out.

Accurate Mailing Service continues to serve thousands of businesses, as we have since 2000.
